2017 Spa Survey

Remuneration and Benefits

There is currently no industry survey as an information source and tool which allows for benchmarking so as to employ best practice when it comes to important Reward decision-making among Spas.

This survey will serve as an ongoing tool for benchmarking individual employees’ remuneration, who occupy niche jobs in the Spas’ environment.

In addition, current, valid survey results are an invaluable tool when making important remuneration decisions during the course of the year.

Equal Pay legislation

Very importantly, the survey results can assist in ensuring that your organisation is in a position to comply with the legislation tabled in the Employment Equity Act, “Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value” which came into effect on 1 August 2014.
The whole report will speak about “the niche market” and no reference will be made to any individual and individual Spa.  Everything will be generic and talk to the data as a combined whole.

confidentiality promise

Our business rests on commitment to confidentiality of data. Thus under no circumstances would any individual information or any company-specific information be disclosed to any other participant.

Our business depends on our commitment to this promise.

The report will include salary benchmarks for Total Guaranteed Package, Annual Commission earned, Short-Term Incentives/Bonus earned and Total Remuneration.

Data is analysed by:

  • Salary benchmarks per position
  • Salary benchmarks per employee
  • Race, gender & location
  • Spa star rating & number of properties
  • Benefits offered
  • Increase Trends and projections
  • Casual labour (prevalence & practice)
  • Allowances offered

We would like to invite you to participate in our  Spas’ Remuneration and Benefits survey. This Survey is an extension to our Hotel and Hospitality Industry Remuneration Survey, which we have run successfully for the past 8 years, representing 246 individual hotels nationally.
