Black Economic Empowerment and Business Transformation

21C Ed logo

1-day course

Learn about recent developments in B-BBEE, the Employment Equity Act, other related legislation, and their impact on Black Economic Empowerment. We probe the verification challenges and risks that have arisen, how (and why) to adopt a strategic implementation and progress approach, and how to maximise each element of B-BBEE for impact and value-add.

The modules

The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Strategy of South Africa was published as a forerunner to the B-BBEE Act, No. 53 of 2003. After its inception, the DTIC gazetted the Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Codes of Good Practice, culminating in several Transformation Sector Charters that were introduced for purposes of compliance in line with the B-BBEE Act.

The central objective of the Act is to advance economic transformation and enhance the economic participation of the previously disadvantaged Black South Africans. Available evidence argues that since its inception, B-BBEE has played a pivotal role in redressing historical disparities and promoting inclusivity in various sectors of the economy.
