We invite HR and Remuneration practitioners to join 21st Century for a conversation with our guest attorney, Lize-Marie Joubert (Joubert Attorneys).

We will introduce the PoPI Act and give a brief overview of:

  • the requirements for lawful processing of personal Information,
  • the rights of data subjects with emphasis on HR-specific issues.

Some of the topics we will be discussing in this session include:

  • Recruitment;
  • Employment contracts of current and prospective employees;
  • Consent – and Notice requirements and documentation;
  • Training;
  • Special Personal Information and categories of information related to employees;
  • How to be compliant (practical consideration, employee contracts, opt in processes etc, manuals, policies and guidelines);
  • Records management – benefit of digitising HR and POPI Act compliance;
  • Working remotely;
  • Data ethics, seeing employees as data subjects.
